Job summary

Greater Lowell Technical High School is seeking a part-time Security Guard for a 10-month position in Tyngsboro, MA. The role requires patrolling campus facilities, inspecting doors and security systems, managing visitor access, and assisting law enforcement as needed.

The schedule is Monday-Thursday 1:30 pm-5:30 pm and Friday 5:30 pm-9:00 pm, with 182 school days. A Massachusetts CORI background check and fingerprints are required; GLTHS is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Good communication skills
• Possess valid motor vehicle operator’s license with good operator history required. Minimum of five years motor vehicle operator experience.
• Experience as a policeman, fireman or watchman (preferred)
• Ability to present information and respond to questions, inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, and work with frequent interruptions

Responsibilities

• Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal activity.
• Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
• Checks daily to ensure that all doors are open/closed and all panic hardware are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
• Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them and/or call local police for assistance.
• Patrols school grounds to ensure proper usage of all playing fields by authorized groups only.
• Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctions of heating, air conditioning, plumbing or electrical systems.
• Make written reports.
• Issues visitor passes; assists authorized visitors with directions and needed explanations.
• Assumes traffic and parking lot responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor.
• Assist law enforcement officers as directed by immediate supervisor.
• Monitors various areas of school grounds and buildings using multiple security cameras; maintains awareness of vehicles entering and leaving school grounds.
• Operates school motor vehicle in performance of duties; reports any vehicle malfunction or needed repair to supervisor.
