Job summary

MOT Charter School is seeking a Constable / Safety Monitor to support building leadership in maintaining the safety and security of all students, staff and visitors.

The role requires calm under pressure, strong communication, and readiness to respond to emergencies, while collaborating with administrators to uphold the school’s comprehensive safety plan and crisis protocols.

You may be called to evening or weekend events as part of safety duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years law enforcement experience.
• Must possess firearms certification for handgun.
• Must be in good physical health and able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must obtain Delaware Constable Certification.
• Able to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Enhance safety and well-being of students, staff, visitors and facilities.
• Serve as a first responder to emergencies onsite.
• Supervise and monitor students inside and outside the building, including evenings or weekends.
• Escort students or unauthorized visitors as needed.
• Assist with bus, recess and lunch duties.
• Lead on the safety plan and assist during crises.
• Monitor interior/exterior areas and parking lots for safety.
• Coordinate with local/state law enforcement as necessary.
• Participate in Safety Team and provide staff safety trainings.
• Attend required trainings for state schools.
