Job summary

Newington SD is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard Anna Reynolds Elementary School, ensuring a safe environment for students, staff and visitors. The role includes routine patrols, incident response and enforcing district policies under supervision.

The position requires coordination with the School Resource Officer and administrators, with core hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Connecticut police certification and ability to respond to emergencies are preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and local laws, safety measures, first aid and CPR techniques.
• Ability to interpret school policies and procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate effectively in safety incidents.
• Willingness to stand and patrol for long periods and be alert at all times.

Responsibilities

• Assist administrators in maintaining order and discipline on school property and at events.
• Supervise school grounds and coordinate with staff on security measures.
• Serve as liaison to the Newington Police Department via the School Resource Officer.
• Provide transportation of students to off-campus locations as needed.
