Job summary

Tupelo Public School District is seeking a Security Officer to assist staff in maintaining a safe physical environment that supports the educational well-being of each student. The position reports to the Principal and focuses on monitoring hallways, verifying passes, and directing visitors to appropriate personnel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hallways during the change of classes and during instruction time.
• Verifies student passes and monitors restroom areas.
• Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
• Monitors building and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
• Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, and directs or escorts them to appropriate personnel.
• Monitors school and grounds to detect unauthorized persons and reports any unusual conditions to administrative personnel.
• Reports immediately to the presence of any visitor in the building who bypasses visitor protocol and reports unusual behavior to administrative personnel.
• Performs other duties consistent with professional competence as the Board may assign.
