Job summary

Oconee County Sheriff's Office seeks a School Resource Officer to enforce laws and protect students at area high schools, providing a safe environment and responding to emergencies.

You will patrol, advise staff, present safety programs, and coordinate with parents; requirements include high school diploma and completion of SC Criminal Justice Academy. This is a full-time county role with on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years related experience required.
• SC Criminal Justice Academy completion required.
• Preferred: Valid SC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for assigned school and maintain order and safety.
• Enforce and monitor compliance with school safety procedures.
• Instruct on crime prevention and conflict resolution; promote law obedience.
• Present D.A.R.E. program and advise school officials on drug awareness.
• Provide individual and group counseling for students as needed.
• Monitor student behavior to maintain order and safety.
• Coordinate emergency responses in high‑risk situations.
• Prepare incident reports and case documentation.
• Escort services and crowd control at events when required.
