Job summary

MSD of Decatur Township is seeking a School Resource Officer to serve within a fully functioning law enforcement agency. The role focuses on educating students, staff and parents about teen brain policing, drug trends, and cultural competency, while reducing juvenile delinquency through proactive, compassionate interventions.

Candidates must be 21+, hold a valid driver’s license, and obtain required ILEA certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
• ILEA Tier 1: Basic Class Certification preferred; lateral TIER 1 preferred.
• Must pass an initial physical fitness assessment (ILEA) and yearly follow-ups.
• Experience in a K-12 school environment preferred.
• Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
• Must be willing to carry a firearm and maintain proficiency.
• Must obtain CPR and AED certification.
• Corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• Must lift items up to 50 pounds.
