Job summary

City of Lawrenceburg, Indiana seeks a School Resource Officer (SRO) to support Lawrenceburg School District students, staff and faculty. The SRO will provide safety coordination, enforce laws, and serve as a liaison with local police for school operations.

The role includes classroom instruction on law, emergency planning, and engagement with parents and communities. On-call duties and overtime may apply as part of a full-time position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Must be able to complete Indiana Law Enforcement Academy training within one year.
• Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, traffic rules, and safety practices.
• Ability to operate a vehicle safely and communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Enforces Indiana laws and city ordinances; assists school officials with student conduct policies.
• Protects students, staff and property; coordinates safety and emergency plans.
• Investigates violations on school grounds and assists in prosecutions as needed.
• Provides classroom instruction on law and safety to students as approved.
• Liaises with parents, school administrators and external agencies on safety matters.
• Coordinate security for school events (homecoming, sports, graduations) and on-call duties.
