Job summary

The City of Lawrenceburg seeks a School Resource Officer to serve as a liaison between the Lawrenceburg School District and the Lawrenceburg Police Department. The SRO will enforce laws, support school safety, and provide instructional guidance to students and staff.

Responsibilities include coordinating with administrators, investigating incidents, and presenting safety programs. This full-time role requires driving, on-call duties, and working within the school community to prevent juvenile

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
• Must meet Indiana Law Enforcement Academy training requirements within one year.
• Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and school safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Enforces state and local laws and policies; supports school safety.
• Protects persons and property on campus and coordinates with school admin.
• Investigates incidents and assists in prosecutions as needed.
• Conducts classroom instruction on law and safety topics as approved.
• Acts as liaison among students, parents, staff, and police agencies.
• Coordinates security for school events with appropriate departments.
• Develops programs to prevent juvenile delinquency and improve safety.
