Job summary

Broward County Public Schools Police seeks a School Police Officer to provide on-site safety and security for Broward County schools. You will perform sworn law enforcement duties in coordination with district leadership and partner agencies, ensuring a safe learning environment for students and staff.

The role requires a Florida law enforcement certification, a valid Florida driver’s license, and prior experience with students.

Qualifications

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED Testing Program.
• A minimum of three (3) years, full-time, in law enforcement at the local, state, or federal level.
• Currently certified and in good standing as a Florida criminal justice officer in Law Enforcement.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Prior experience working with students or adolescents.
• Computer skills as required for the position including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site safety, security and law enforcement services to Broward County Schools Police.
• Perform sworn law enforcement functions in compliance with relevant Florida statutes.
• Protect and secure school sites and occupants, including activities off-campus.
• Participate in investigations and prepare detailed reports within timelines.
• Coordinate with district, CPIS, DCF and other agencies as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and be available for on-call duty.
