Job summary

Broward College is seeking a part-time Public Safety Officer to provide emergency and non-emergency public safety services on campus. You will deter crime, respond to incidents, enforce college policies, and document activities with attention to safety and community engagement.

Successful candidates will complete the Public Safety Academy within six months, maintain CPR/AED certification, and may be eligible for veterans’ preference. Background checks and E-Verify are used in employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year prior experience in related field required.
• Prior campus public safety/law enforcement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a first responder for emergency and non-emergency public safety services.
• Enforce local, state, and federal laws and college policies; investigate, respond to, and document incidents.
• Complete Public Safety Academy within six months of hire.
• Perform community service, training, and parking enforcement tasks as assigned.
• Process evidence, prepare court cases, and provide testimony.
• Operate safety equipment and standard public safety tools as needed.
• Maintain daily reports and logs of incidents and activities.
