Job summary

Alliance for Community Empowerment is hiring a Safe Passage Worker to provide safe passage for students traveling to and from school, focusing on de-escalation and community engagement. You will work part-time during in-school and after-school hours, meet weekly with the Safe Passage team, and collaborate with local businesses and school staff to reduce violence and connect families with resources.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, a valid CA driver's license, and Spanish language

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent community intervention experience.
• Lived experience with the criminal justice system, community violence, or the conditions that contribute to violence is a plus.
• Spanish language skills, verbal and written preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible presence before school along Safe Passage routes.
• Conduct proactive outreach and engagement with students to promote safety and referrals.
• Build relationships with students and families to promote trust and reduce vulnerability.
• Engage with local businesses along Safe Passage routes to identify safe spaces and strengthen partnerships.
• Support school administration and CVI staff with on-campus presence to de-escalate tensions.
