Job summary

Cape Girardeau Public Schools is seeking a dedicated School Resource Officer who will perform highly responsible law enforcement work to create and maintain a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment for students, staff, and patrons.

The SRO will foster positive relationships between officers and youth, support anti-crime efforts, and collaborate with school administrators to address safety and crisis response across the district.

Qualifications

• Commissioned as a law enforcement officer.
• 2 years experience as a law enforcement officer.
• Broad knowledge of the court system and presentation of evidence in court proceedings.
• Broad knowledge regarding youth, social issues and the criminal justice system.
• Knowledge of city, state and federal laws.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• The SRO will conduct highly responsible law enforcement work under general direction to create and maintain a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment for students, staff, and patrons.
• Foster an efficient and cohesive program that will build a positive relationship between law enforcement officers and the youth of our community in addition to reducing crime committed by juveniles and young adults.
