Job summary

The City of Greer is seeking a qualified School Resource Officer (SRO) to serve within the Police Department. The role blends law enforcement duties with educational outreach, producing classroom instruction and coordinating with school staff.

Candidates must hold SCCJA certs, be a licensed driver, and bring 2+ years of law enforcement experience. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a starting salary around the minimum listed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of law enforcement experience or equivalent.
• Class 1 certification as a law enforcement officer through SCCJA.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
• Certified School Resource Officer (SRO).

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties as a Police Officer and specialized activities as School Resource Officer.
• Instructs specialized, short-term programs at schools and locations.
• Coordinates activities with principals and staff; seeks guidance as needed.
• Develops and presents material to students on law and duties of officers.
• Maintains records for the SRO program and submits to supervisors.
• Attends meetings with parents, faculty, and administrators as requested.
• Supports crime prevention activities and partnerships with community agencies.
• Maintains professional standards and exceptional customer service.
