Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking a Construction Manager to collaborate with the Director of Buildings and Grounds on in-house design for renovations, modifications, and new construction. You will oversee district remodeling projects and coordinate with architects and engineers to ensure designs meet standards.

The role requires 3+ years in construction/project management, strong budgeting and scheduling skills, and the ability to manage multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or related areas of architecture or engineering preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Construction Management or related fields.
• Knowledge of commercial building design, construction methods, budgeting, and codes.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications for mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
• Experience with project design, on-site observations, inspections, and record keeping.
• Proficient with Windows, word processing, data spreadsheets, and facility management software.
• Strong organization to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Experience supervising and scheduling the work of others.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability compliance.
• Ability to work effectively with staff in a multicultural urban setting.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning sessions, community meetings, and workshops.
• Assists in establishing project objectives, reviewing designs, and preparing cost estimates.
• Conducts field inspections, reviews shop drawings, and manages change orders.
• Coordinates remodeling and new construction with architects and engineers.
• Uses the District’s Work Request System for project coordination.
• Enter time, materials, and project notes into the system for tracking.
• Reviews facility needs and develops bidding documents.
• Ensures designs meet district guidelines and safety standards.
