Position Overview

Location: Mi Escuela Montessori, Lakeland, FL

Schedule: Full‑Time, follows the School Calendar

Reports To: School Administrator (clinical supervision provided by the Florida Department of Health)

Responsibilities

• Provide age‑appropriate direct nursing care, first aid, and emergency support for students from 12 months old through early adolescence.
• Chronic Condition Management
  • Allergy Management: Oversight of allergy action plans, EpiPen administration, and staff training.
  • Seizure Disorders: Implementation of seizure action plans, monitoring, and emergency intervention.
  • Diabetes Care: Blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration support, and carb counting.
• Health Screenings & Prevention: Coordinate and complete all state‑mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, and scoliosis) and maintain meticulous compliance records.
• Administrative Excellence: Maintain accurate, confidential, and digital student health records, medication logs, and immunization audits in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
• Family & Staff Support: Act as a resource for families and staff, providing guidance on childhood health, infection control, and wellness to ensure a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Licensure: Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification (Healthcare Provider level).
• Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with managing allergies, seizure disorders, and Type 1 Diabetes in a pediatric setting.
• Language: Full professional fluency in English.

Preferred:

• Bilingualism: Full professional fluency in Spanish (high priority).
• Experience: Experience in pediatric nursing, school nursing, or community health.
