Qualifications

• Active Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of current nursing experience in pediatrics, school health, or an emergency department.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
• Strong pediatric/young adult assessment skills.
• Knowledge of developmental milestones.
• Strong organization and multitasking abilities.
• Comfortable utilizing electronic health records and other computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess student health concerns and determine appropriate interventions, referrals, or emergency response.
• Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specialized health needs.
• Administer medications and maintain documentation in accordance with Connecticut school health requirements.
• Coordinate required student health screenings, immunization compliance, and cumulative health records.
• Participate in school teams as the clinical resource for student health needs.
• Identify and respond to communicable disease concerns within the school environment.
• Provide health education and guidance to students, parents, teachers, and school personnel.
• Delegate and supervise appropriate responsibilities to school health office support staff when applicable.
