Job summary

The California Highway Patrol seeks a School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator to interview, fingerprint, and process applicants for school bus classifications. This role conducts both written and driving tests, issues temporary certification, collects fees, and coordinates with CHP Areas and allied agencies for driver monitoring.

In this in-office position, the selected candidate will work under the Administrative Sergeant, with duties spelled out in the Duty Statement and related class

Qualifications

• Experience interviewing and processing job applicants for safety-critical roles.
• Ability to conduct written and driving tests for license compliance.
• Experience issuing temporary certifications and managing paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Interview and fingerprint applicants for school bus classes.
• Conduct written and driving tests for driver certifications.
• Issue temporary certification for original and renewal drivers in School Bus, SPAB, Youth Bus, Farm Labor Vehicles, GPPV, VDDP.
• Collect fees, issue receipts, and process related paperwork.
• Review accident reports involving regulated drivers.
• Coordinate with CHP Areas and Allied Agencies for driver monitoring.
