Job summary

ALABASTER CITY SCHOOLS seeks a Psychometrist to support exceptional education services. The role involves administering intellectual and achievement tests for students referred for possible eligibility for special education, and co-coordinating the eligibility and reevaluation processes.

Qualifications

• Valid Alabama teaching certificate.
• State Department of Education School Psychology certificate (A/AA).
• Master’s degree with training in psychological testing.
• Background courses in tests and measurements, child development, guidance and counseling, and Exceptional Education.
• Preferred certification for Autism Evaluations using ADOS and autism rating scales.

Responsibilities

• Administer intellectual and achievement tests for eligibility for special education.
• Co-coordinate eligibility and reevaluation processes and placement recommendations.
• Develop procedures for referral, evaluation, and placement.
• Review referrals and request additional information as needed.
• Consult with school personnel regarding referrals and responsibilities.
• Re-evaluate Exceptional Education students according to federal/state guidelines.
• Schedule testing with school personnel or parents as appropriate.
• Assist with compliance verification on transfers, reevaluations, and initial referrals.
• Follow federal, state, local, and professional guidelines and timelines.
• Prepare and present cases to the Eligibility Determination Committee; include testing results.
• Complete written reports on tests administered timely.
• Serve as a resource to schools for conferences with teachers, parents, and students.
• Respond to special and emergency requests; collaborate with other personnel and agencies.
