Job summary

City and Country School seeks a thoughtful School Psychologist to support social-emotional and mental health needs of students from nursery through Grade 8. This is a full-time, 10-month position reporting to the Director of Student Support.

The School Psychologist is an integral member of the student support team and plays a key role in partnering with students, families, teachers, and administrators to foster a healthy, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience with children ages 2–13 in school or clinical settings.
  • Commitment to progressive education and the mission of City and Country School.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty, learning specialists, and administrators to support the mental health and social-emotional development of students ages 2–13.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide consultation to teachers and staff regarding behavior, development, and emotional well-being.
  • Provide short-term, goal-oriented support for students and facilitate referrals for external therapeutic services when appropriate.
  • Maintain strong relationships and regular communication with outside providers, including therapists, neuropsychologists, and related service professionals.
  • Partner with Division Directors to offer consultation on parenting and lead a parent education series on child development, emotional wellness, mental health, and parenting.
  • Serve on the school’s Crisis Management Team, contributing expertise to crisis response, safety planning, and emotional recovery efforts.
  • Participate in various student support and grade-level team meetings to assess student needs and ensure coordinated support plans.
  • Maintain appropriate records in line with ethical and legal standards.
  • Support school-wide initiatives that promote physical, social, and emotional health and well-being including the direct teaching of lessons and/or units on developmentally appropriate topics responsive to the various age groups and developed in partnership with Division Directors, teachers, and other support staff.
