Job Description:

The Psychologist measures and interprets the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development of children; interprets results of psychological studies; interprets and applies state and federal codes, and develops strategies and interventions to address the special education needs of eligible students. This job reports to the Lead Psychologist.

Qualifications:

• Education: Master's degree in job-related area.
• Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education license with an endorsement in School Psychology, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Experience: Job-related experience within the specialized field is required.

Essential Functions:

• Administers assessments to measure development and determine eligibility for services in compliance with regulations.
• Assesses students' capabilities and environments to inform recommendations and placements.
• Communicates with students, parents, teachers, and other personnel to evaluate situations and resolve conflicts.
• Compiles information from various sources to produce comprehensive evaluation reports.
• Consults with professionals and parents to develop plans and make recommendations.
• Coordinates with community agencies to determine appropriate treatments for students.
• Counsels students, parents, and guardians to support student success.
• Develops behavior plans and curriculum modifications for treatment programs.
• Facilitates meetings to meet curriculum and state mandates.
• Implements school-wide programs and evaluates their effectiveness.
• Intervenes in inappropriate behaviors and helps students develop interpersonal skills.
• Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for professional development.
• Prepares various written materials to document activities and convey information.
• Researches resources and methods to address students' goals.
• Supervises interns and practicum students to monitor performance and support professional growth.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure effective functioning of the work unit.

Public Health Compliance:
