Position Details

Title: School Psychologist

Reports to: Director of Special Education

Qualifications: Appropriate State of Illinois Certificate

Job Goal: To assist in the identification of students needing special intervention and assist in the development and implementation of programs to meet identified needs.

Performance Responsibilities

• Assist with screenings to identify students who may need educational intervention.
• Attend building referral team meetings.
• Understand RtI & MTSS process for eligibility.
• Conduct case study evaluations.
• Provide verbal and written reports of information obtained from the case study.
• Chair/attend multidisciplinary conferences (MDCs) for students evaluated.
• Consult with school personnel regarding behavior management and learning problems.
• Counsel with parents and/or students to help remediate school-related problems.
• Provide consultation for individual educational programs or needs.
• Offer relevant inservice education for school personnel.
• Engage in professional development through conferences, workshops, journals, and collaboration.
• Make recommendations to assist referred students.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Observe students in various school environments as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by an administrator.
