Job summary

ADAPT Community Network is seeking a School Psychologist to join our Brooklyn School Age Program, supporting children with developmental disabilities. This is a full-time, 12-month position, Monday–Friday from 8am–3pm.

Under general supervision, you will perform evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention, monitor treatment plans, and convey intervention techniques to staff and families. Qualifications include a Master’s in Psychology and NYSED School Psychologist Certification.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact with coworkers, consumers, families and outside contacts.
• Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
• Knowledge of standard psychometric assessment instruments (e.g., Wechsler series, Stanford-Binet).
• Demonstrate sound judgment and the capacity to respond to unusual situations.
• Good personal computer skills and knowledge of appropriate software.
• Must be willing to work at various program sites.

• Records progress on all active cases in therapy, monitors therapy status, and makes appropriate recommendations as changes occur.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews for purposes of planning, implementation, and monitoring of individual plans.
• Participates in pre-admission evaluations.
• Assists with other duties such as arrival and dismissal, feeding, restroom use, and classroom management.
• Maintains equipment and orders supplies with the approval of the supervisor.
• Administers scores, analyzes, and interprets diagnostic tests in cognitive and emotional areas.
• Trains and instructs program staff in the utilization of goals, behavior management, interpretation of test results, etc.
• Keeps abreast of changes in the field.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, is responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention in accordance with ADAPT Community Network (ADAPT) policies, the regulations, and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and standards of the profession. Monitors treatment plans and progress. Conveys intervention techniques to others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the School Psychologist will include, but are not limited to the following:
