Job summary

Crystal Lake School District 47 is seeking a School Psychologist to support student growth by providing educational, social, emotional, and behavioral assessments and services within our schools. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, parents, and district teams to design appropriate interventions and programs.

The candidate will conduct assessments, support IEP meetings, provide counseling, and stay current with best practices in school psychology and education.

Qualifications

• Professional Educator License required.
• School Psychologist endorsement required.
• Master's/Specialist Degree in School Psychology, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years school psychology experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Fluent/clear report writing ability.
• Knowledge of standardized tests available at varying development levels.
• Knowledge of test interpretation and how results impact student performance.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures involving special education law.

Responsibilities

• Consult and collaborate with staff and parents about program development, prevention measures, early interventions, and assessment of students' difficulties.
• Serve on building and district teams (e.g., crisis team, RtI teams, student services teams).
• Conduct valid educational assessments and interpret information for learning concerns; communicate needs to staff and parents.
• Facilitate IEP meetings; ensure paperwork meets legal standards; act as district representative to explain rights and recommendations.
• Supervise provision of special education services.
• Know district curriculum and resources to allocate appropriate services.
• Provide individual and/or group counseling to support learning and development.
• Participate in crisis intervention for individuals and larger groups as needed.
• Keep current with research relevant to psychology and education.
• Plan in-service presentations to enhance understanding of services for children.
