Qualifications

  • Master's, Ed.S., or Doctoral in School Psychology preferred.
  • Active Virginia School Psychologist license or eligibility required.
  • Experience in school-based settings preferred.
  • Experience with diverse student populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychoeducational evaluations for eligibility decisions.
  • Administer, score, interpret cognitive, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional tests.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive evaluation reports to MDTs and families.
  • Participate in IEP, MTSS, and problem-solving meetings.
  • Consult with teachers and parents on interventions and supports.
  • Develop behavior intervention plans and evidence-based strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling as appropriate.
  • Monitor progress and recommend programming adaptations.
  • Maintain confidential records in compliance with laws.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote student outcomes.

Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and collaborative School Psychologist to support students in Stafford, Virginia for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time opportunity serves Kindergarten through 8th-grade students across two school sites—one elementary school and one middle school located in the northern region of Stafford County. Both schools are Title I campuses with large English Learner (EL) populations, making this an excellent opportunity for a school psychologist who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and collaborating within a multidisciplinary educational team. The district offers a highly supportive environment where school psychologists work closely together to ensure manageable workloads and provide assistance whenever additional support is needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and related services.
  • Administer, score, and interpret cognitive, academic, behavioral, adaptive, and social-emotional assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive written evaluation reports and present findings to multidisciplinary teams and families.
  • Participate in eligibility meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, MTSS, and problem-solving teams.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers regarding academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
  • Assist in developing behavior intervention plans and evidence-based support strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention, consultation, and short-term counseling services as appropriate.
  • Monitor student progress and recommend appropriate educational programming and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote positive student outcomes and inclusive learning environments.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to district-wide initiatives supporting student success.
Position Details
  • Population: Kindergarten–8th Grade
  • School Sites: Two schools (one elementary and one middle school)
  • Assignment: Northern Stafford County
  • School Characteristics: Both campuses are Title I schools with high English Learner (EL) populations.
  • Assessment Caseload: Typically ranges from approximately 30–70 evaluations per year, depending on grade level, redistricting, referral patterns, and triennial evaluation schedules.
  • Support: Collaborative school psychology team with strong district support and shared resources to help balance workloads.
Qualifications
  • Master's, Educational Specialist (Ed.S.), or Doctoral degree in School Psychology preferred.
  • Active Virginia School Psychologist license/certification required (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Previous school-based experience preferred.
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychoeducational assessment, special education eligibility, MTSS, behavioral interventions, and special education laws.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
