Job summary

Strides Therapy & Educational Services is hiring a School Psychologist for an in‑person contract position in Warrenton, VA. You will provide comprehensive psychological services, collaborate with educators and families, and contribute to a healthy learning environment.

The role requires Virginia licensure or eligibility, NASP‑approved training, and experience with IEPs/BIPs, data analysis, and counseling. Excellent communication and cultural competence are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must reside within 45 minutes of the school district.
  • Virginia Department of Education School Psychologist license or eligibility.
  • Certification as a School Psychologist by Virginia DOE.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP‑approved program.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Experience in a school setting with IEPs and BIPs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Commitment to diversity and cultural competence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and experienced in‑person School Psychologist to join our team on a contract basis. As a School Psychologist, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to students, collaborate with educators and families, and contribute to fostering a healthy learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to determine students’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide counseling and interventions to support students’ emotional and mental health needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address students’ academic and behavioral challenges.
  • Offer consultation and training to school personnel on strategies to improve learning environments and student outcomes.
  • Promote positive mental health through prevention programs, crisis intervention, and school‑wide initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct extensive psychological evaluations, assess eligibility for special education services, and support effective individualized instruction.
  • Collect data, provide systematic observations for students experiencing challenges, and make referrals to community support services.
  • Provide crisis intervention and participate as a crisis team member when warranted.
  • Stay current on new developments in the field of education.
Requirements
  • Must reside within 45 minutes of the school district.
  • Valid Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) School Psychologist license/endorsement or eligibility to obtain licensure before employment.
  • Certification as a School Psychologist by Virginia Department of Education.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP‑approved/accredited program.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of Special Education Law as outlined within the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) or equivalent state laws.
  • Prefer experience working as a School Psychologist in a school setting.
  • Experience with positive behavior support and universal strategies to support students with behavioral concerns.
  • Experience with administration and interpretation of a variety of assessments.
  • Proven ability to develop modifications and accommodations for the general education curriculum.
  • Strong skills in psychological testing, counseling, and intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Commitment to cultural competence and diversity.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs.
Location

Warrenton, VA

Expected Hours

7.5 hours a day; 37.5 hours per week (contract basis).
