Job summary

Central Falls School District is hiring a Certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support students with disabilities in the NECC partner classroom at Captain Hunt School, Central Falls, RI. The 10-month paraprofessional position requires caring, reliability, and adherence to district policies.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, health and safety, data collection, adapting instructional materials, and supporting classroom operations under teacher supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and required degree and/or passing ParaPro Assessment and Teacher Assistant Training Program.
• Those with an associates degree or bachelors degree AND who have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program standards will be considered.
• Experience in an educational environment working with similar-aged students is preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Experience working with students with autism using ABA principles
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
• Current Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification.
• Capacity to support teachers by participating in instructional opportunities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Fit for Duty assessment before onboarding.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Behavior data collection
• Implementation of NECC classroom model strategies
• Assist teachers in the daily functioning of the classroom.
• Assist in providing individual, small group, and class activities and any provisions of instruction for the assigned student under teacher direction.
• Ensure health, welfare, and safety of all students
• Assist in individual care toward independence during transfers
• Assist with meals, dressing, health, hygiene, toileting
• Prepare materials and equipment for instruction
• Support other children in the class
• Log time worked and absences daily via employee portal
• Assist with administrative, supervisory, clerical, and housekeeping duties
• Demonstrate flexibility to be reassigned to other schools as needed
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
• Follow District policies and procedures
• Report student injuries and incidents promptly
• Complete all related duties as assigned
