Job summary

Spring Independent School District in Houston seeks a Classified Specialist to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing for classified staff, substitutes and tutors, including salary calculations and deductions, in line with district policy.

Under supervision you will maintain payroll records, balance control sheets, handle garnishments and retroactive pay, and provide excellent service to employees while meeting development and policy requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years payroll experience.
• Preferred 2+ years in educational setting or payroll admin experience.

Responsibilities

• Process new hires, status changes for classified staff.
• Submit payments for garnishments and dues per pay period.
• Balance campus/department control sheets per payroll.
• Assist employees with payroll inquiries.
• Maintain payroll records per retention schedules.
• Ensure 12 hours of annual professional development.
• Coordinate cross-training on processing new hires.
• Process AESOP payroll files and retro pays.
• Process paycards and handle manual checks.
• Handle processing of extra duty pay batches.
• Other duties as assigned.
