Job summary

Allentown School District is seeking an instructional paraprofessional to support students with disabilities and general education students under certificated staff guidance. The role emphasizes instructional support, classroom management, and implementing behavior plans within various settings, including IEP-related services.

This position requires meeting state and district educational requirements, clearances, and ongoing staff development obligations.

Qualifications

• Must meet educational requirements for highly qualified paraprofessional as defined by federal laws (No Child Left Behind, IDEA).
• Must meet basic reading, writing and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and professionals in maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.
• Support instructional and tutorial strategies as per IEP under the direction of certificated staff.
• Provide instructional support (administer tests, tutoring, reinforce instruction) under teacher guidance.
• Collect observational and academic data for progress monitoring and maintain student records.
• Follow and implement positive behavior support plans and assist with student personal needs as required.
