Job description

Mission and Vision

The OHSU School of Nursing in Ashland is located on the Southern Oregon University campus, a nationally renowned liberal arts and science college located in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains. Ashland is 286 miles from Portland. This campus offers three programs: two to complete the Bachelor of Science with a Major in Nursing degree and a third to complete an Accelerated Bachelor to Master’s program (Family Nurse Practitioner). OHSU has three missions: healing, teaching, and discovery. In the School of Nursing, these focus to optimize health, prepare nurse leaders, and transform health care. Faculty Ranks and Compensation

• Lecturer (BSN or equivalent): $40.01 – $48.61 an hour
• Instructor (MSN or equivalent): $45.20 – $56.46 an hour
• Assistant Professor (MSN/DNP or equivalent): $48.19 – $67.45 an hour

Responsibilities

• Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): Plans and supervises student laboratory or clinical experiences based on teaching assignments.
• Scholarly Activities:
  • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission demonstrate competence in an area of clinical expertise and engage in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice.
  • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advance a program of research, prepare grants and seek funding, and engage with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
• Education Activities:
  • Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignments using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
  • Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Mentors and advises students.
  • Faculty in the doctoral program supervise students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects.
• Service Activities: Includes faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director. Additional engagement occurs based on rank.
• Administrative Activities: As negotiated.
• Other Activities: The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

Required Qualifications

• Education (degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position):
• Lecturer: BSN or equivalent
• Instructor: MSN or equivalent
• Assistant Professor: Ph.D./DNP or equivalent
• Registrations, Certifications, and/or Licenses (current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program):
• Oregon RN license
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of clinical practice experience preferred
• Doctorate preferred. A doctorate is required for ranks of Assistant Professor or higher.
• Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
