Job summary

Perry Township Schools is seeking a school kitchen worker to perform food preparation, serving, cashiering, cleaning and record keeping with a positive, safety-focused attitude for students and staff.

Responsibilities include following recipes, preparing meals per guidelines, stocking serving lines, operating kitchen equipment, and maintaining HACCP records. Schedule is 182 days/year, 4–7.5 hours daily; pay is $15.75/hour.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow detailed written and oral instructions.
• General knowledge of basic culinary and sanitation skills.
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes, including weights and measurements.
• Ability to learn prescribed food preparation methods and school nutrition operations.
• Ability to prepare food with reasonable speed and accuracy.
• General knowledge of the use and care of food preparation equipment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and school staff.
• Demonstrates confidentiality and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or assists in the preparation of food for students and staff.
• Follows standardized recipes with no deviation.
• Serves meals or meal components to students per federal guidelines.
• Replenishes food items for serving lines as needed.
• Labels and stores or disposes of excess food per HACCP standards.
• Operates and cleans standard food service equipment.
• Cleans and sanitizes smallwares; hand washing and dish machine operation.
• Assists in receiving and storing food deliveries.
• Completes paperwork including inventory and HACCP records.
• Adheres to sanitation regulations and follows procedures.
• Fills in where needed to ensure efficient operations.
• Complies with work schedule and call-in procedures.
