Job summary

Springtown Independent School District is seeking a Kitchen Worker for its Child Nutrition Department to prepare and serve meals for PK-12 students in a school cafeteria setting.

Primary duties include following planned menus, ensuring food safety and sanitation, and maintaining accurate logs. Strong reading abilities and basic math are needed to follow recipes and record temperature and inventory data.

Qualifications

• Understand food preparation and safety instructions.
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures.
• Operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools.
• Perform basic math.
• Basic cooking and cleaning skills.
• Read a basic recipe
• Follow directions and communicate with staff and/or management.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation and serving per planned menus.
• Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested and uniform recipes.
• Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures.
• Promotes portion control and proper storage/ leftovers.
• Follow USDA guidelines at all times.
• Store and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized storage area.
• Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness.
