Job summary

Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia is seeking a School Nutrition Worker to prepare, cook, and serve meals to students, staff and visitors. You will follow recipes, operate food preparation equipment, and help maintain a clean kitchen under the supervision of the School Nutrition Manager and the Principal.

Starting immediately with a 183-day contract, the role requires reading recipes, complying with health codes, and participating in annual in-service training.

Qualifications

• Standard high school diploma or HSE; food service experience preferred but not required.
• ONE course within first year of employment (Orientation for Nutrition Employees).
• Ability to read and follow recipes and understand directions.
• Must learn to operate food preparation equipment and perform cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.
• Follow daily production schedules and prepare recipes as written.
• Use portion control to portion all foods.
• Follow state/local health codes as they relate to food service.
• Follow safety regulations and wash dishes.
• Serve on the serving line and assist with cashiering as needed.
• Maintain professional dress codes and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Attend training programs and annual in-service sessions.
