Bedford County Public Schools STAUNTON RIVER MIDDLE in Moneta, Virginia is seeking a School Nutrition Worker to prepare and serve nutritious meals in a clean, friendly environment and operate the cafeteria register.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of food handling experience, plus a valid driver’s license. This is a part-time, 180-day position starting immediately.

• Trains and assists new employees.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Title: School Nutrition Worker

Job Summary:

The purpose of this job is to prepare and serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an efficient, clean and friendly environment. Operates cafeteria register.

Essential Duties:

• Operates the register and receives money to put on the students' accounts.
• Sets up the display of extra items for sale each morning.
• Assists in cooking, setting up and serving food items to students and staff.
• Follows all established state and federal regulations and complies with all established school nutrition and school board policies.
• Operates a variety of kitchen equipment including ovens, mixers, slicers, steamers, dishwashers.
• Follows all established HACCP Guidelines and Procedures.
• Assists with maintaining the food service facility and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary conditions.
• Assists in inventory control of food items and supplies.
• Communicates positively with school nutrition employees, school staff, students, parents and visitors.
• Assists manager in recordkeeping to include inventory, production sheets, and scheduling of daily tasks.
• Trains and assists new employees.
• Assists washing dishes, cleaning equipment, sweeping and mopping of kitchen.
• Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of food handling experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
