Job summary

Whitsons in Monroe, CT is seeking a Substitute School Food Service Worker to support the nutrition program on the days scheduled. This flexible, on-call role offers daytime hours with no nights, weekends, or holidays and a chance to serve nutritious meals to students.

You'll prep, portion, and serve meals, follow safety guidelines, and help maintain a clean, welcoming kitchen. No prior experience is required as training is provided, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Must complete Whitsons and government-mandated training.
• Minimum 1 year of professional food service experience preferred but not required.
• ServSafe certification preferred but not required.
• English reading and speaking sufficient to follow recipes and safety rules.
• Professional image; able to work in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prep, portion, and serve meals to students and staff.
• Set up and clean serving areas and kitchen equipment.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive and welcoming mealtime atmosphere.
• Support the team and jump in wherever needed.
