Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Worker to support Baldwin County Schools’ nutrition operations, ensuring healthy meals for students, staff, visitors, and the community.

You will assist in food preparation and service per the daily menu and supervisor directions, perform storage and sanitation tasks, operate kitchen equipment, and rotate duties across cashier, server, and prep roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work well with others.
• Ability to adhere to Child Nutrition Program guidelines and USDA rules.
• Capable of using technology as required for duties.
• Willingness to complete annual continuing education training.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparation and service of food according to the menu and supervisor instructions.
• Performs food storage, inventory control, equipment cleaning, and sanitation tasks.
• Operates kitchen equipment per established procedures.
• Rotates through cashier, server, backup, dish machine, prep, and cleanup duties as assigned.
• Maintains professional dress and personal hygiene suitable for food service.
• Observes safety precautions in the kitchen and work areas.
• Cooperates with staff to maintain high standards in the program.
• Follows instructions and communicates effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
• Participates in training and professional development opportunities.
• Demonstrates initiative and confidentiality as required.
