Job summary

Southeast Polk Community School District in Pleasant Hill, IA is seeking a Food & Nutrition Operations Specialist to support on-site nutrition services, staff training, menu planning, and daily operations in a 10-month role from 6:15am to 2:45pm.

The position requires a high school diploma with related coursework or certification; ServSafe certification; and the ability to supervise staff, coordinate purchasing, and ensure USDA compliance. Salary range $40,000-$47,000.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma with related coursework/certification in Dietetics, Food Service Management, or Nutrition.
• Must be ServSafe certified or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and ongoing support to Head Cooks and Cooks across assigned buildings.
• Assist in resolving personnel issues and participate in performance evaluations and staff development.
• Train new staff and lead staff training sessions; ensure SOP adherence.
• Fill in for cooks to maintain operational efficiency.
• Monitor compliance with USDA meal patterns and health standards.
• Assist with nutrition software training and IT collaborations.
• Use district technology to promote school nutrition programs.
• Assist with menu planning and nutrient analysis using software.
• Evaluate daily food quality and service efficiency.
• Coordinate purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and cost analysis.
• Support marketing and wellness initiatives and student engagement.
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality; promote a positive work environment.
