Job summary

Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools seeks a Nutrition Services Assistant to support meal preparation and serving in a clean, compliant environment. You will assist with cooking tasks, maintain sanitation standards, and help manage serving lines for students and staff.

Under supervision, you will handle inventory, receive supplies, and respond to questions about food content and nutrition. This role is based in Nashville and involves daily kitchen duties in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Performs various semi-skilled kitchen tasks to prepare food for serving per daily menu guidelines.
• Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, counters, and tables; mops and sweeps floors daily per state health regulations.
• Prepares serving lines by filling steam table wells and arranging pans in correct sequence.
• Serves students and teachers appropriate quantities in a friendly manner at the serving line.
• Keeps serving line clean and replenished.
• Answers inquiries about content or nutritional value of food or refers to appropriate personnel when needed.
• Receives supply orders and verifies quantities against invoices.
• Stores food and supplies upon receipt; updates inventory records to ensure supplies are available continually.
