Job summary

Liberty STEAM Charter School in Sumter, SC seeks a Food Services Assistant to support meal preparation, storage, and compliance with the Child Nutrition Program.

You will assist with serving meals, monitor temps, maintain sanitation, manage inventory, and help with ordering and documentation.

This role requires a high school diploma, English proficiency, and a valid SC Food Handler's Certificate, with prior school-nutrition experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in food service, meal preparation, custodial services, or commercial kitchen operations.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Two (2) years of experience working in a school nutrition program preferred.
• Food Handler's Certification preferred or required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and special event meals.
• Prepare portions meeting CNP requirements.
• Assist with meal service to ensure timely, courteous service to scholars and staff.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed.
• Monitor food temperatures during prep, holding, and serving.
• Assist with opening/closing kitchen procedures and general cleanup.
