Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking a School Food Service Assistant to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for students, staff, and visitors. The role includes handling storage, safety tasks, and transporting food between sites, with heavy lifting up to 70 pounds.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, read and follow procedures, and hold a current Alaska driver’s license. Iñupiaq language and culture experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations.
• Current Alaska Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the production and service of palatable school meals.
• Participate in storage, cleanup, and safety tasks.
• Operate the food service vehicles to deliver food to and from the school sites.
• Expedite incoming and outgoing food to locations as required.
• Process incoming freight and check necessary paperwork.
• Lift and stock freight; keep all storage areas neat and clean.
• Operate a pallet jack and lift up to 70 pounds.
• Perform other tasks as assigned and adhere to District policies.
