Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is hiring a Summers off, nine-month Food Service Assistant for the cafeteria. The role follows the school schedule and runs 9:30am-1:30pm with no night or weekend shifts. It is an hourly position with district benefits per the work agreement.

You will assist with food preparation, serve as POS for meals, maintain sanitation, and support a team. A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and strong communication

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to support a team atmosphere.
• Process strong communication skills and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform general work connected with the operation of food service, including preparation and handling as assigned.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods; participate in serving high-quality food.
• Available to work flexible hours.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch, verifying a reimbursable meal was served.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Assist with general clean-up duties.
• Maintain open, positive communication with all people served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
• Attend meetings and in-service training as requested.
• Attend on-time and fully prepared to begin work; follow procedures for lateness or absence.
• Regular attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
