Job summary

Whitsons Food Service is seeking a School Food Service Worker to join our nutrition team in Shelton, CT. Monday–Friday, no nights or weekends, you’ll prep, portion, and serve meals to students and staff, and help maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

You’ll work with a friendly team, follow Whitsons food-safety standards, and support healthy, classroom-ready meals. Training is provided; no prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Must complete all Whitsons and government-mandated training as required.
• Minimum 1 year of professional food service experience preferred but not required.
• ServSafe certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to speak and read English sufficient to understand and perform job assignments, follow recipes, and comply with safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prep, portion, and serve meals to students and staff.
• Set up and clean serving stations and kitchen areas.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Create a positive and welcoming mealtime experience.
• Work as part of a fun, energetic team.
