Job Description

The Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School (AMSA), a demanding curriculum charter school, seeks to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. AMSA is committed to preparing all students to succeed in college and 21st-century careers. Located in Marlborough, MA, AMSA includes 6th through 12th grade classes.

AMSA is seeking a substitute school nurse to work on an as needed basis to cover the Health Office when one of our school nurses are absent; to supplement our school nurses by assisting with screenings and with other nurse activities. This could be for on-call substitute needs, as well as planned absences/vacations, scheduled in advance.

• Paid orientation/training is provided at $175 per day.
• The substitute nurse/field trip nurse will take on the primary function of the school nurse.
• AMSA Health Office hours are 7:30am-3pm.
• Responsibilities include practicing health care services in accordance with the MA General Law, school policy and health protocols.
• Responsibilities include providing students with medical and first aid services as required; administering daily, PRN and OTC medications. At times the substitute nurse may be helping with State screenings; training for screenings can be provided.
• Provide emergency and non emergency care for injury and illness.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers, parents regarding students needs.
• Maintain current confidential student health records
• Assess students daily visits, evaluate health status and provide care according to standing orders and following student individual healthcare plans.
• BSN required, valid MA RN current license required
• BLS CPR/AED certification required
• Experience in a school based, community or pediatric setting is preferred.
• Computer experience with electronic medical records preferred; AMSA uses SNAP as the EMR- will train

Rate: $175 per day
