Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Illinois Certification as a Vision and Hearing screening technician.
• Computer literacy and competency with school health technology.
• Experience in nursing; school health orientation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains health care plans for students requiring special nursing interventions during the school day.
• Provides direct professional nursing services, including first aid, illness and emergency care, assessment, referrals, documentation and follow-up.
• Administers medications with proper documentation.
• Maintains medical records to comply with state mandates and supports IEP documentation.
• Performs mandated vision and hearing screenings and reports results to the IEP team.
• Provides health information and staff in-service programs on health topics.
• Maintains a confidential health services facility and supports health counseling for students, parents, and staff.
• Completes accident/incident reports and compiles health data for reporting.
