Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
• Current First Aid and CPR program completion.
• Illinois Certification as a Vision and Hearing screening technician.
• Computer literacy and competency in use of existing technology.
• Experience in nursing and completion of a school health orientation program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains current health care plans for students who need special nursing interventions during the school day.
• Provides direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff including nursing assessment, referrals, documentation and follow-up.
• Administers medication with appropriate documentation.
• Maintains medical records to ensure state mandates on immunizations, exams, medical conditions, and IEP info.
• Performs mandated vision and hearing screenings and reports results to the IEP team.
• Provides staff in-service programs on health topics including blood borne pathogens and the district exposure control plan.
• Provides health information and counseling for students, parents, and staff.
• Supervises and follows up on deficits in vision, hearing, growth and development, and other conditions.
• Makes referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
• Maintains confidential health services facility and communications.
