Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking a School Nurse – RN/LPN to support student health across designated schools. The role delivers nursing care, screenings, and health education, while liaising with families, physicians, and community agencies to remove health barriers to learning.

The position requires MO licensure as RN or LPN, ADN or higher, CPR/First Aid/AED, and strong Word/Excel skills. Regular coverage during events and a 205-day calendar is included.

Qualifications

• Licensed in Missouri as a Registered Nurse.
• Graduation from an accredited ADN program.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Experience in a school or medical setting.

Responsibilities

• Cover openings at schools due to PTO obligations and vacancies.
• Assist nurses at home schools during special events and field trips.
• Conduct health screenings and assessments to identify at-risk students.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans, including medication administration.
• Manage immunization records and ensure compliance with state statutes.
• Assess injuries and illnesses and provide first aid and documentation.
• Collaborate with health professionals and community agencies to ensure continuity of care.
• Report health information to local health units and participate in safety drills.
