Job Title: School Nurse (Registered Nurse or License Practical Nurse)
Location : The Children's Institute, 1405 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217
Entry-Level Salary : $42,448/year (RN), $17.50/hr. (LPN). Additional compensation based on experience.
Schedule : Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is a full-time position that follows a traditional school year schedule.
About The Team
The Day School is an approved private school licensed by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Private Academic Schools and approved as a special education school by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Families and school districts alike have connected with our expert educational team to bring specialized education and related services, including autism support and multiple disabilities support, to nearly 200 students from 60+ school districts across western Pennsylvania each year.
About The Position
Our School Nurse (RN/LPN) at The Day School is an essential part of a team focused on enabling our amazing kids to fully benefit from their educational experience. Responsibilities include:
- Administering medications as ordered.
- Screening students and provides emergency care.
- Monitoring special health needs of students.
- Providing required procedures as appropriate in a school setting.
- Implementing health screenings according to state regulations.
- Notifying families of scheduled screenings and results.
- Maintaining documentation on the Health Record.
- Providing Lead TDS Nurse with daily reports of student accidents, incidents and illnesses.
- Providing student/staff/family teaching.
- Maintaining policies and procedure manual.
- Maintaining necessary data for statistics and reports.
- Attending in-service training and/or conferences as needed.
- Cooperating in team approach.
- Maintaining student confidentiality and protects student rights.
- Adhering to the policies of the facility.
- Functioning within legal boundaries of nursing.
- Completing all student documentation accurately and within facility time frames.
- Completing all administrative documentation accurately and timely.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
- At least 1 year of Experience working with a pediatric population.
- Ability to lift, position, and feed students with disabilities; assist them physically in transferring to and from wheelchairs to other equipment and lifting on to and off school transportation vehicles.
- Act 73 FBI, State Act 34-Criminal, and State Act 33-Child Abuse Clearances
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- School Nurse certification preferred.
- Current and valid CPR and Frist Aid certification (if not, we will provide training).
