Job summary

The Center School in Holyoke, MA, part of the Positive Regard Network, is hiring a Registered Nurse to support medical needs for students with special needs. The role requires MA RN licensure; BSN preferred, with experience in pediatrics and special needs populations. Full-time, 52 weeks per year, 7:30 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., with possible part-time or per diem options. Benefits include health/dental, tuition reimbursement up to 6,000, retirement plans, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the MA Board of Registration in Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred.
• Experience working with children with moderate to severe special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides and/or oversees the administration of medication.
• Provides and/or oversees first aid/medical treatment for students; coordinates with case manager and parent/guardian any need for follow up treatment.
• Provides emergency first aid for staff injuries and recommends appropriate medical follow up.
• Provides mandated periodic student health screening assessments.
• Maintains student health records and ensures that records are complete and up to date.
• Writes Individual Health Plans and provides relevant information to staff to assist in students' care.
• Submits nursing reports for individual students, as requested.
• Maintains contact with health care providers and school staff as indicated.
• Participates in supervision and commits to professional development.
• Keeps up to date with regulations and ensures health policies are consistent with regulations.
• Maintains licensure and participates in conferences or courses for professional development.
