Job summary

LEARN Charter School Network is seeking a School Nurse to deliver health services across its campuses in the Waukegan area. The nurse will lead health program planning, maintain records, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations for our PK-8 setting.

The ideal candidate holds a current IL School Nurse certification, an active RN license, and has at least three years of school nursing experience. Bilingual abilities and CPR/PALS are a plus.

Qualifications

• This role requires current IL School Nurse certification and an active RN license.
• Minimum of three years of recent school nurse experience.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local health regulations for school settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive health services to elementary and middle school students.
• Develop and monitor school health programs in collaboration with authorities and staff.
• Maintain health records and ensure confidentiality and compliance with laws.
• Educate students and staff on health topics and conduct staff trainings.

What You’ll Do

The School Nurse will provide health care services to students in an elementary and middle school setting.

As a School Nurse, your critical tasks will include but not limited to:

• Planning the school health program, in conjunction with medical authorities and school leaders, as well as developing policies and procedures for the schools' health programs.
• Monitoring compliance of the schools' health programs with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Collaborating with other child-support agencies.
• Interacting frequently with staff, parents, students, and instructors.
• Working closely with school social workers, teachers, and school leaders in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of students.
• Providing medical examinations and reviews findings to evaluate the health status of the student and progress of the program.
• Instructing students in health education and providing staff development programs on health related topics.
• Providing first aid care and medically prescribed services to students and staff.
• Coordinating and maintaining health records on students.
• Adhering strictly to the policy of maintaining confidentiality (i.e. responsible for the maintenance, care, security and integrity of student medical records)

What You'll Need

This job is a great fit if you:

• Have a current School Nurse certification in compliance with State/District Requirements for IL and RN
• Have a minimum of three (3) years recent experience as a school nurse.
• Possess a deep understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services.

Preferred

• You are bilingual (Spanish)
• You have CPR and PALS certification.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Nurses will be working in a busy and active environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once, and the Nurse will have to supervise all children at all times. Majority of work will be performed in a general classroom/school environment. May be asked to participate and attend organization sponsored events and meetings, such as field trips and network professional development.
