Job summary

South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. is seeking a Head Start School Nurse to lead health services for our children and families in the Plymouth, MA area. The nurse will work closely with an collaborating nursing assistant to keep kids healthy, safe, and ready to learn.

The ideal candidate will have an RN, or be an LPN, with the ability to maintain records, coordinate screenings, and partner with families and teachers to support holistic development and well-being.

Qualifications

• RN preferred, LPN accepted.
• Background check required prior to employment.
• Must speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Be a friendly, trusted health presence for children, families, and staff.
• Keep health records organized and up to date, including screenings, immunizations, follow-ups, and data tracking (details matter!).
• Partner with families to support healthy habits, answer questions, and connect them with helpful resources.
• Collaborate with teachers, family advocates, administrators, and community health providers as part of a strong, supportive team.
• Coordinate health screenings, referrals, and follow-up care with community partners.
• Promote wellness, safety, and infection control throughout the program.
• Participate in team meetings and planning conversations focused on the whole child.

Education

Minimum Requirements at employment
