Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide on-site school health services in Des Plaines, IL. You will manage routine and PRN medications, monitor students with chronic conditions, and lead emergency response on campus.

Qualifications

• Current BLS CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of nurse delegation practices and state scope-of-practice regulations.
• Tube feedings and management.
• Pediatric diabetic management.
• Medication administration.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise clinical judgment.
• Experience working with a pediatric population.
• School-based nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and manage everyday illnesses (headaches, stomachaches, injuries).
• Monitor students with chronic conditions and manage routine and PRN medications per orders.
• Verify medical orders, document medication administration, and safely administer medications.
• Act as lead responder to medical emergencies on campus.
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment use.
• Develop and update IHPs, IEPs, and 504 Plans related to medical conditions; participate in meetings as needed.
• Collaborate with parents and school staff regarding students with medical needs.
• Conduct or assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, growth/BMI, blood pressure).
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks per state regulations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Act as the lead responder to medical emergencies on campus
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment use
• Develop and update IHPs (Individualized Healthcare Plans), IEPs (Individualized Education Plans), and 504 Plans related to medical conditions; participate in meetings as needed
• Collaborate with parents and school staff regarding students with medical needs
• Conduct or assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, growth/BMI, blood pressure)
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks in accordance with state regulations
